9 DecemberOutcomes from Warsaw - Insights from COP 19

How do we achieve high growth with low emissions? This societal challenge, and the role that business plays, was explored in the context of the recent UN Conference in Warsaw.

We were joined by Debora Frodl, Global Executive Director, ecomagination at GE, who shared insights into how technology innovation can make measurable differences and create sustainable outcomes. In the second panel session Australian experts and commentators offered their insights into the outcomes from the international round of climate negotiations.

5 DecemberThe Consequences of Climate Change & Outcomes from the 19th International Climate Conference

This SBA Business Briefing was held in 2 parts: a panel discussion of what it would mean for Australia to exist under a four degrees increase in temperature, followed by a panel session of experts and commentators who offered their insights into the outcomes from the international round of UN climate change negotiations (called COP 1).

A topical conference which discussed the review of the virtually complete Assessment of Contaminated Sites NEPM and other recent legislative changes. It assisted landowners and practitioners in preparing for the new and current contaminated land liabilities, legislation, policies and obligations.

A breakfast session marking the release of the joint report, Infrastructure interdependencies and business-level impacts: A new approach to climate risk assessment. This report summarises findings from a workshop conducted in December 2012 by The Climate Institute, Manidis Roberts and KPMG, which piloted a process for analysing the climate-related risks associated with interdependent infrastructure systems of a major city.

Members & friends of the Association were invited to the First Twilight Seminar of 2013 - a panel led discussion on changes to the Valuation of Land Act and the Land Tax Management Act.

A2SE Australian Summer Study on Energy Efficiency and Decentralised Energy

Now in its second year in Australia, this not for profit event is an international 'institution' which has been running for 30 years in the US and 16 years in Europe. Formal presentations by international experts were balanced with informal working sessions with ample time allowed for networking and collaboration.

Energetics sponsored the A2SE Summer Study. Energetics' Principal Consultant, Dr Gordon Weiss presented on the first day. He discussed "The price is right: how affordable solar PV changes everything".
